Be Mindful Of Your Words!

Be mindful of your words...

So this morning I am wide awake at 3am. After tossing and turning for a few minutes I realize that I am being summoned to the study. As I wait for my coffee to brew I am leaning in to understand what is on God's heart that is urgent enough to get me out of bed. The following scriptures seemed to be what is His heart this morning.

Proverbs 12:14 A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth...
Proverbs 13:2 A man shall eat well by the fruit of his mouth...
Proverbs 13:3 He who guards his mouth preserves his life...
Proverbs 16:23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.
Proverbs 17:27-28 He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; when he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.
Proverbs 18:20-21 A man's stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Jesus said in John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak;  and He will tell you things to come.

Jesus also compared the Word and words in general to seeds.

I feel the Lord is saying to us this morning, "Be mindful of your words because they are very powerful. Creation came forth by the power of My Word and by My Word all of creation is sustained. I created you in My likeness and in My image and so your words have power to create and to sustain, but they also have power to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down." John 1:1-3; Genesis 1:26; Jeremiah 1:10

The above scriptures warn us to be mindful of our words because the power of death and life are in them. When the bible speaks of the stomach or the heart it is usually speaking about our inner most being or the mind, will and emotions. So the scriptures are saying a man's inner most being, his mind, will and emotions will be satisfied by the fruit (words) of his mouth. Another way of looking at it is, whatever we are speaking is what we believe and we will have being produced in our lives, which is why it is so important that will fill ourselves with what God's Word says because in it is all we need that pertains to life and godliness.

2 Peter 1:3-4 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

This is so heavy on my heart this morning that I feel I am to sound the alarm. Be mindful of your words! I perceive we are entering into a season of sowing spiritually. The ground is plowed and waiting for seed to be sown into it. Make sure you are sowing words of life and not death. Both will produce a harvest in the near future.

Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

This is not a message of doom, but a message of opportunity to prosper. God, our Father, so loves us that He is giving us advance notice of the season we are entering into that we might benefit from it. You can change your circumstances by the Word.

Proverbs 4:4 He also taught me and said to me: "Let your heart retain My words; keep My commands and live."

Proverbs 4:23-24 Keep (guard) your heart (mind, will, emotions) with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth,  and put perverse lips far from you.

Here is a promise for us to meditate on and get into our hearts today. Luke 12:12 Jesus speaking -  "For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour (time/day/season) what you ought to say." What season are we in? The season of being mindful our words.

Closing with this:

The Lord is saying this morning to test the waters and begin speaking His Word over your life. Make a sincere commitment to Him to not only be a hearer of His Word but to be a doer of His Word.

Here is His commitment to us if we are mindful of our words...

Haggai 2:19 "I am giving you a promise now while the seed (words) is still in the barn (mouth). You have not yet harvested your grain, and your grapevines, fig trees, pomegranates, and olive trees have not yet produced their crops. But from this day onward I will bless you."

Zechariah 8:12 "For the seed shall be prosperous, the vine shall give its fruit, the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew - I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these. And it shall come to pass...So I will save you, and you shall be a blessing, Do Not Fear, let your hands be strong.

Father, teach us what we ought to say and how to say. Let our words be filled will life and not death. Thank you for watching over Your Word coming our of our mouths to perform them on our behalf.

In Jesus' name! Amen.
